We strive to use our 3 Bes in all parts of our school day and in everywhere we go.
Here are a few specific expectations for all students:
Hats and Hoods: Students at SPMA may wear hats or hoods as long as they do not interfere with their learning. Students need to continue to be active learners in whole groups, small groups, and independent learning. Hats and hoods will not cover the face.
Gum- We do not allow gum to be chewed in school.
Candy, Cookies, Chips: These items are not to be brought to school unless they are a part of a student's full lunch from home. Students will not be allowed to eat them during the school day unless it is approved by the teacher or there is a health need.
Smart Watches, Cell Phones and Ear Buds: These items are not allowed to be used at school. SPMA prefers students not bring these items to school. We do understand that some students need to have a cell phone with them. If your child is going to bring a cell phone, smart watch or ear buds to school, our expectation is for them to either keep their item in their backpack all day (from the time they come in the door and until they get on the bus) or turn the item into their teacher in the morning. The item will be returned at the end of the school day.
- Students do not need any of these items as they have an iPad to use at school each day.
- Cell phones are disruptive and can cause issues with things being said on-line.
- We believe learning the skills of in person communication and collaboration are important.
- SPMA is not responsible for cell phones, smart watches or ear-buds if they are brought from home, lost or stolen.
If you need to get in touch with your student, please call the SPMA office at 651-293-8795.
If learning is impacted by any of the above items, the student will have a conversation with their teacher or the student support team. If there are concerns surrounding our guidelines, please reach out to your child's teacher. If there are concerns at school, SPMA staff will reach out to you.
