SPMA Leadership Update for Fall 2026

Dear Saint Paul Music Academy Community,

I hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer break. I’m writing to let you know that Principal Bee Lee is on a leave of absence that will extend through at least December of this year. Until then, I am pleased to announce that Carlottia Ruff will serve as your interim principal until Principal Lee returns. 

Interim Principal Ruff was most recently an assistant principal at Washington Technology Middle School. She spent her early years with Saint Paul Public Schools as a 6th grade science teacher at Hazel Park Preparatory Academy, and a content coach and science teacher at American Indian Magnet School. She will work closely with me, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Kirk Morris, throughout the coming months to ensure a smooth transition and great start to the school year.

Interim Principal Ruff is excited to meet all of the students and families at the SPMA open house on September 3 from 4-6 p.m.
